Giovanni Reyna is gradually carving a niche for himself as one of the fastest-rising American professional soccer players in Europe. The fact that he is a teenager. 19, shows that he can only get better based on his performances for the USMNT and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga

Reyna made his Dortmund debut in 2020 after coming on as a substitute in Dortmund’s 5:3 win against Augsburg. He became the youngest American soccer player, aged 17 years and 66 days, ever to play a Bundesliga game, breaking a record previously set by Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic

Zack Steffen is one brilliant American shot-stopper but is under the shadow of elite goalie Ederson Moraes at Manchester City. Regardless, the 26-year-old is one of the top goalkeepers for the USMNT. 

He made his debut for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City when he featured against Bournemouth in the third round of the League Cup at the Etihad. He made a winning start for the Citizens as they came out tops with a 2:1 victory.

He has also won the Premier League with the Citizens. Zack Steffen and the Citizens are in line for another Premier League triumph as they lead the log with 9 points having played one game more than second-placed Liverpool at the time of writing.

1. Chris Richards (Bayern Munich, Bundesliga – Germany)

Chris Richards is one of the upcoming youngsters at the Allianz Arena and is expected to break into the first team. He broke into the first team at Bayern in 2020 and has played 5 games for the Bavarian giants. 

Chris Richards, 21, has won the UEFA Super Cup and the DFL Supercup with Bayern but is yet to become a mainstay in the Bayern team. 

The defender was sent out on loan to Bundesliga neighbors Hoffenheim in February 2021. He is also playing for them this season and has 1 goal in 17 appearances in all competitions at the time of writing.

Weston McKennie is one of the elite versatile attacking midfielders in Serie A and Europe this season. 

McKennie, 23, can be deployed as a deep-lying playmaker and also as a box-to-box midfielder and this was one of the reasons why the Old Ladies went all out to acquire him from Schalke 04. 

He has been a mainstay under Massimiliano Allegri and has scored 4 goals in 25 games in all competitions thus far in the ongoing 2021/22 season.

Matthew Hoppe plays in La Liga outfit RCD Mallorca and stole the limelight when he scored a hat-trick against Hoffenheim for Schalke in the Bundesliga before his move to Spain.

The 21-year-old is gradually establishing himself as a mainstay in the Barcelona side and is playing his part in the club’s recent resurgence under new boss Xavi Hernandez.
