Bayern Munich have carved a niche for themselves as the best team in Europe and unarguably the team to beat as the 2020/21 football season progresses in Europe.
The Bavarian giants have added the UEFA Supercup to their laurels and have started on a positive note after ending the 2019/20 season on a high.
I guess very few saw the Bundesliga giants being this dominant in Europe after the sack of Niko Kovac and his replacement by Hansi Flick. Well, the German gaffer’s adventure at the club since his appointment has been nothing short of fantastic.
Bayern Munich will now turn their attention to the FIFA Club World Cup which is already as good as won by them in my opinion as they’ll take the sides from other continents to the cleaners when the time is right.
Hansi Flick’s men have been making mincemeat of quality opposition in Europe and the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona, amongst others, who were victims of the German outfit’s ruthlessness on the pitch last season can attest to this.
They had it tough against Paris Saint-Germain in the final of last season’s UEFA Champions League but showed character and grit to grind out a needed 1 nil result. Up next was the game against Sevilla in the European terrain.
Many folks expected the Germans to rout their Spanish counterparts but this was not the case eventually. They had to dig deep and they showed that it is not beyond them as they eventually ran out 2:1 winners against a formidable Sevilla side.
The likes of me were hoping for an upset with the way the game was progressing but Hansi Flick and his men weren’t having that as they came from behind to triumph. Let’s not forget that they are already overwhelming favorites for the Bundesliga yet again although this is no news.
Regardless, one would wonder how Flick has managed to revitalize this side without any major big-money signings. They’ve already let go of the likes of Thiago Alcantara and Philippe Coutinho but have not shown any major signs of these losses.
It can be recalled that they kicked off their 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign with an 8 nil bashing of Schalke 04 at the Allianz Arena and their upcoming opponents already have their work cut out for them.
The Bundesliga giants look the best team in Europe by a country mile and they’ve shown that they are not messing around with any opponent regardless of their quality. They underrate no side on the pitch and just take the game to them,
The fans at Camp Nou won’t be forgetting about this Bayern Munich side any time soon. We wait to see that team that can thwart their efforts in the UCL this season as they’ll be intent on defending the UCL title.
They’ve won 31 and drawn just one out of their 32 competitive games in all competitions since back to back losses to Bayern Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
They are a ruthless side and we can only watch to see that team that will come up to dethrone them in Europe this season. It seems impossible presently. Nevertheless, we look forward.
