Tottenham’s Lo Celso suffers groin injury on national duty

Tottenham midfielder and new signing Giovani Lo Celso has sustained a groin injury while on international duty with the Argentina national team. However, he played down the severity of the knock.

Lo Celso, 23, was withdrawn from the game after 53 minutes in the nil-nil draw with Chile and is likely to miss the next game against Mexico on Wednesday.

According to the Argentina national team official twitter account, the player suffered a blow to his left groin.

Regardless, in a chat with reporters, Lo Celso said: “My problem was only a blow. It is not something to worry about.

“We deserved a bit more. We had a lot of chances to convert but it wasn’t to be.”

The midfielder has played 19 times for Argentina and has scored 2 goals. It can be recalled that Lo Celso joined Tottenham Hotspur from La Liga outfit Real Betis on a loan deal on deadline day with an obligation to buy next summer.
