Two key Barcelona players to return after negative Covid tests

Barcelona’s chances have been boosted after two players tested negative for coronavirus after positive tests. It can be recalled that Xavi had a thin squad to rely on ahead of their first La Liga game of 2022 against Mallorca.

However, they grabbed all 3 points in a 1 nil victory through a goal by Luuk de Jong on Sunday. Barcelona had lost at least 8 players due to Covid and 8 more to injuries as Xavi was forced to make do with 16 absences ahead of the game.

However, ahead of Wednesday’s Copa del Rey match against Linares Deportivo in the Copa del Rey and the La Liga clash against Granada on Saturday, two players have returned negative tests.

The duo of Jordi Alba and Dani Alves have tested negative and will be able to return to the team this week. The two players had returned positive tests and had to isolate. The good development is that Spain has reduced its mandatory isolation period and a negative test is now enough for them to earn a return to action.

Meanwhile, the other players who tested positive will continue to be tested while other players will have to undergo the antigen test which is mandatory for every player in their daily activities in their respective clubs.

This news will surely excite Xavi as they are big names with lots of experience, coming off the back of fielding a very young team in the away victory against Mallorca. The Barcelona legend is not having it easy in his early days as Barcelona boss.
