Arsenal FC were heavily linked with a summer transfer window deadline day for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz but the move failed to materialize.
Regardless, Douglas Luiz has reportedly told friends that he wants to join Arsenal in January. The Gunners’ interest in the Villa man peaked after they lose Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny to the sidelines but it remains to be seen if they will still be interested in the Brazilian come January.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners made a late move for Luiz but eventually pulled the plug on the move. Regardless, a report by Football Insider suggests that Luiz wants to join Arsenal and has informed his friends.
The player’s contract expires at the end of the season, putting the Villans in a difficult situation as the player may not renew since he is interested in a move away from the club.
He can decide to run down his contract and leave at the end of the season on a free transfer, therefore, the club may be forced to cash in on him in January if Arsenal come calling for a cutback price.
