Which top PL club got the best arrivals in the 2021 summer transfer window?

The 2021/2022 summer transfer window slammed shut in most of Europe on the 31st of August with some of the top clubs in England completing a few last-minute deals in one of the most exciting transfer windows in recent times.

We shall go over the incomings of these teams and see how they fared in addition to ranks as well as which team addressed areas of weakness in their various squads.

ARSENAL

The Gunners went into the window needing to address a lot of holes in their squad which, to be frank, was already bereft of quality footballers in areas such as defense and midfield.

They brought in a total of 6 players to complete a very busy summer in terms of incomings. The left-back area was addressed with the signing of young Benfica LB Nuno Tavares, the Gunners also addressed the CB position by signing young English defender Ben White.

In midfield, promising midfielder Albert Lokonga was brought in to compete for the CM position alongside Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka. Arsenal also brought in a much-needed creative midfielder in Martin Odegaard, as well as a GK in Aaron Ramsdale to compete with Leno between the sticks.

Finally, they rounded up a busy summer with the addition of an RB in Japanese defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Gunners did well to address most of their issues in the squad but could’ve done with another Central midfielder and a CF.

CHELSEA

The current European champions came into the summer transfer market not needing to do much in terms of ins to an already strong squad but did well to upgrade in certain areas.

The Blues signed Inter Milan hitman Lukaku, a move that’ll look to provide a significant upgrade on the options they had in CF and would probably make the difference in a bid for a title push this term.

They also nabbed shot-stopper Marcus Bettinelli on a free from Fulham and finally Saul Niguez on loan from Atletico Madrid on deadline day to round up a less busy window in terms of ins.

The Blues could’ve done with another CB to their ranks as they employ a 3 at the back system, plus having a quality rotational option for the aging Thiago Silva.

MANCHESTER UNITED

The Red Devils came into the summer market like fellow rivals Chelsea with a strong squad that needed strengthening in a few areas. They brought in veteran defender Raphael Varane to partner with Harry Maguire to fortify and provide extra stability at the heart of the defense.

The Red Devils also completed a deal for long-term target Jadon Sancho, to address their right-wing issues.

The Red side of Manchester also brought in a third choice GK in Tom Heaton on a free and rounded up the transfer window by bringing back club legend Cristiano Ronaldo, in a move that could prove to be a masterstroke in their quest for a league title in 8 years.

However, the Red Devils failed to make any midfield signing despite the position being a glaring point of weakness over the years especially in defensive midfield. Signing a defensive midfielder would’ve made for a near-perfect window for Ole’s men.

MANCHESTER CITY

The Champions of England as we all know possess a strong group of quality players and squad depth that’s arguably the best in the whole of England.

The Citizens came into the window needing to strengthen in the CF position but went on to bring in English jewel Jack Grealish for a whopping 100m British pounds.

They spent the majority of the summer trying to agree a deal for striker Harry Kane but failed to do so and hence didn’t want to pursue any alternative deals despite rumors of being interested in bringing Ronaldo to the Blue side of Manchester.

LIVERPOOL

The Reds came into the transfer window with a somewhat aging squad and needed strengthening in some areas, they brought in a young defender from Leipzig in Ibrahima Konate which happened to be the only piece of business in terms of ins.

The Red side of Merseyside could’ve done with additions in CF, RW, a right-back cover for Trent Alexander Arnold, as well as a creative midfielder but seemed content with the sole addition of CB Ibrahima Konate.
