Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Unai Emery at Arsenal if he eventually gets the boot for a string of poor performances by Arsenal’s standards.
Arsenal slumped to a sixth consecutive game without a win after the 2 all draw against Southampton at the Emirates on Saturday. The result effectively meant that Unai Emery is overseeing the club’s worst run of form in 20 years.
This has resulted in more calls for his contract to be terminated. Regardless, the former Paris Saint-Germain boss will be in the dugout when Arsenal face Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday at the Emirates.
According to Mail Online, Unai Emery’s position is now being reviewed on a game by game basis and that Nuno Espirito Santo is now in pole position to take over, due to how impressive he has been at the Molineux. Wolves are also impressing in the Europa League under the Portuguese.
Arsenal’s director of football Raul Sanhelli has a close relationship with Nuno’s agent Jorge Mendes. However, it’s likely that the North Londoners will have to wait until the season ends before any move to hire the Portuguese can be successful.
