David Moyes among nominees for Barclays manager of the season

David Moyes seems a rejuvenated manager since his return to management in the Premier League with West Ham. The Londoners have been punching above their weight since the Scottish manager took over and they narrowly missed out on a place in the UEFA Champions League next season. However, they got to settle for a place in the Europa League next season and this is a big development for West Ham who haven't been in Europe since the 2006/07 football season. With this notable improvement to the West Ham side, it comes as no surprise that David Moyes is one of the five managers who have been nominated for the 2020/21 Barclays Manager of the Season award. Moyes undoubtedly transformed the Hammers from relegation battlers to candidates for the Champions League in less than 12 months of his...

Blues and Foxes deprived each other on separate fronts

The FA Cup final at Wembley was one game that Chelsea went into as favorites but ended up losing as Leicester City were up for it, with the London outfit not being able to breach their backline successfully. A screamer by Youri Tielemans was enough to settle the matter on the day as the Foxes won another major silverware after their Premier League triumph some seasons back. It can also be recalled that ahead of the FA Cup final, there was also little concern about who would finish in the top four as both sides who thought they were home and dry allowed Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool back into the race for a place in the top four with their inconsistencies. The two sides were to face each other in another season-defining game in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. THE BEST SITES FO...

Rodgers – Foxes to continue legacy ahead of another Chelsea clash

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has called on his players to continue to create a legacy and seal a place in next season's UEFA Champions League competition. The Foxes will seal a place in next season's UCL if they beat Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, after defeating them last Saturday at Wembley to emerge victoriously in the FA Cup. There have been discussions on which is more important between the FA Cup and the league encounter because of the financial benefits that a place in the UCL comes with. However, Rodgers insists that his side are determined to seize the moment again. "It was a very important game for us at the weekend to create this legacy of being the first team to win the FA Cup for the club," Rodgers said. "We want to arrive in th...

Time for Tuchel to feel the pressure at Chelsea as fans return to earth

The events of the past week have shown that there are no guarantees in football. They have also shown that a manager is only the fans' favorite when he has the results to show in his favor. This is the present story of Chelsea as they prepare for their last two Premier League games of the season as well as the UEFA Champions League final against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in Portugal. The Blues were coming off the back of wins against Real Madrid and Manchester City and suddenly, their fans saw them as favorites for every tie. Well, the past week has also shown how the tide can turn, and how football fans can be brought back to earth. If Thomas Tuchel hasn't felt pressure in his entire managerial career, I can bet that he will feel major pressure as Chelsea's boss. The Blues ...

Leicester City considering summer move for Abraham

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City are one of the clubs that are interested in out-of-favor Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this summer. The report suggests that the Foxes consider Abraham as one of their targets for next summer if Chelsea will be willing to let go of their academy graduate. Brendan Rodgers’ sides lack character when it matters most

It appears that some football managers cannot instill character on their sides when it's needed most. This is with regards to football in competitive leagues and not in leagues where one team is known to monopolize the league. Let's talk about Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers and the three cases where his teams have failed to cut it when it mattered most although they were blowing hot at the time. I know some folks may want to mention his adventures with Celtic in the Scottish League.  Well, I don't see this as a major achievement. After all, it has been either Celtic or Rangers for the title in past decades. Any good manager will win the Scottish League with Celtic, and this goes to say that Rodgers is quite a decent manager. I'm not undermining him. Regardless, some sig...

How £65,000-a-week wages could ruin PL Club’s hope of selling striker

Premier League outfits, Leicester City could be on the verge of losing their forward in Islam Slimani due to his hefty weekly wages. According to reports, the Algeria international's £65,000-a-week wages could hinder the Foxes' chances of selling the out-of-favor striker to French side St. Etienne during the January transfer window. After a summer of relentless speculation, the Foxes' one-time record signing is still plying his trade with the club; much to the surprise of Brendan Rodgers whose side plays reigning Premier League champions Liverpool this weekend. Speaking to the Leicester Mercury a few weeks ago, Leicester City boss admitted that he expected Slimani to leave the King Power outfit before the October deadline amid reports with West Bromwich Albion and former club Spor...

Rodgers confirms he had coronavirus but has fully recovered

Leicester City currently sit third in the Premier League and are in a good position to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League. However, they'll need to be consistent and go on a good run as the likes of Chelsea, Man United, Wolves, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal will be hot on their heels when football action resumes in England. The trending news about the club is concerning manager Brendan Rodgers who has revealed that he tested positive for coronavirus but has fully recovered from the disease. The Northern Irishman also revealed that his wife also contracted the deadly virus and went on to liken the symptoms of the disease to climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Rodgers – Vardy’s injury issues are a concern

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted concern over Jamie Vardy's series of muscle injuries. The striker played no part in the 1 nil Premier League defeat to Norwich at Carrow Road on Friday due to the recurrence of a calf problem, his third injury since the turn of the year. It can be recalled that Vardy was absent in the New Year's Day Premier League win against Newcastle due to a calf issue and was subsequently ruled out with a gluteal muscle strain which he picked up in the win against West Ham at the end of January. There has been a recurrence of the calf issue as Vardy felt the pain during training in the week and while a scan shows it's a minor problem that shouldn't keep him out of action for more than a week, Rodgers has expressed concern over the issue.
