Mourinho – Finishing above Arsenal should not be enough for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has stated that the club has to aim higher than finishing above Arsenal, although the feat is always a thing of pride amongst supporters. Well, if you ask for an opinion, I would say this is Mourinho just trying to divert attention from the fact that he hasn't really hit the ground running as Spurs boss and has been average at best. That's my opinion. The North London derby on Sunday saw Spurs come from behind to beat Arsenal 2:1 with the winner coming through a Toby Alderweireld header in the 81st minute. The result pushed Spurs to 8th on the log and two points above Arsenal with three games to go. The opener came through Alexandre Lacazette early in the first half although it didn't last long as Sead Kolasinac assumed the role of a villain...

Harry Kane says he’s never dived in his career and hopefully won’t have to

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has insisted that he has never dived in his career after been accused of simulation in recent Premier League games. The Three Lions captain was heavily criticized for a seeming dive to win a late penalty against Arsenal in the first North London derby of the 2019/20 Premier League season at the Emirates. He was also adjudged to have gone down too easily after a challenge from Jamaal Lascelles a week earlier in the game against Newcastle United. However, when asked if he had ever dived, he refuted the claims. "Never and, hopefully, I don't have to,” said the forward, as reported by ESPN READ: Chelsea confident that transfer ban will be reduced as agents target January signings “I said after the Arsenal game it's a 50/50 one, similar to the...

Pochettino defends Foyth after costly mistake against Arsenal

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has defended Juan Foyth for the mistake which led to Lacazette's goal for Arsenal's third on the day in the North London derby. It can be recalled that the derby ended in defeat for Spurs as Arsenal hit 4 past them, and subsequently leapfrogged them on the Premier League log. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring for Arsenal before Eric Dier restored parity for the visitors. The Gunners then conceded a controversial penalty courtesy of Mike Dean, and Kane stepped up to convert and put Spurs in the lead. However, Aubamaeyang responded with a golazo of an equalizer in the second half that gave Hugo Lloris no chance and Arsenal dominated proceedings from there. Another weekend beckons and we have another cracker on our hands with the feisty North London derby coming up between Arsenal and Tottenham at the Emirates while Chelsea will welcome Fulham to Stamford Bridge. The Blues will be welcoming former boss Claudio Ranieri to Stamford Bridge in a game where they'll be looking to return to winning ways after the loss to Spurs. This is a derby game and the last 3 derbies between the two sides at Stamford Bridge have ended in draws. Therefore, the Blues will be wary of any threat th...

Arsenal are not North London derby underdogs – Wenger

Arsene Wenger has frowned on the idea that Arsenal are the underdogs ahead of Saturday's North London derby against Tottenham. The Gunners are currently four points behind Tottenham this season. However, Wenger has dismissed the claim that the tide had turned such that Arsenal were now underdogs in the forthcoming derby. READ: Injury to Phil Jones on international duty leaves Mourinho fuming "Not at all," said Wenger. "I think Tottenham is a good side but we have the quality to win this game and that is what we want to show." Meanwhile, Wenger has a brilliant record in the North London derby and he went further to reveal that it's a fixture he always looked forward to. "There is always pride involved, a desire to beat your opponent," he said. "You need to hav...
