Mourinho – Finishing above Arsenal should not be enough for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has stated that the club has to aim higher than finishing above Arsenal, although the feat is always a thing of pride amongst supporters. Well, if you ask for an opinion, I would say this is Mourinho just trying to divert attention from the fact that he hasn't really hit the ground running as Spurs boss and has been average at best. That's my opinion. The North London derby on Sunday saw Spurs come from behind to beat Arsenal 2:1 with the winner coming through a Toby Alderweireld header in the 81st minute. The result pushed Spurs to 8th on the log and two points above Arsenal with three games to go. The opener came through Alexandre Lacazette early in the first half although it didn't last long as Sead Kolasinac assumed the role of a villain...

Abraham seemingly takes a swipe at Lampard’s attack-minded tactics

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has seemingly taken a swipe at manager Frank Lampard after the Blues were thrashed 3 nil by Sheffield United on Saturday. Speaking shortly after the game whose result put their top 4 hopes in doubt, the forward admitted that Chelsea's tactics were too attack-minded and left the defense vulnerable. Although he did not outrightly criticize Frank Lampard's tactical decisions, his comments insinuated that the way the game was approached contributed to the defeat. In an interview with Stadium Astro, in quotes by Metro, when asked if Chelsea needed a change in style, he replied: “Yeah, of course it’s fair. “We know that ourselves, we throw so many bodies forward. “We’re very vulnerable when we lose the ball higher up the pitch and that’s something ...

Everton make informal contact with Juventus midfielder

Premier League outfit Everton have had informal contacts with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot according to reports. The French midfielder has been seriously linked with a move to the Premier League this summer and Everton, being managed by his former boss at PSG, Carlo Ancelotti, are interested in signing him. The Italian gaffer requires someone in his team to control the tempo of the midfield, and also control possession for the Toffees in the middle of the pack. Therefore, Rabiot could be the ideal candidate to do this as both of them have a working relationship in their time together at Paris Saint-Germain. Rabiot made the move to join Juventus in Serie A, a move that has seen his development stall due to lack of regular first-team action under Maurizio Sarri. Therefore, h...

Klopp has kept his promise to restore Liverpool’s glory days

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has carved a niche for himself as the man who ended the club's Premier League title drought. He had been putting measures in place to ensure this was the case over the years after his appointment in October 2015. Liverpool contracted the German from former club Borussia Dortmund to replace Brendan Rodgers and this decision has proved to be a masterstroke going by the club's achievements in recent years. They've now won the Premier League for the 2019/20 football season and this was preceded by a UEFA Champions League triumph in the 2018/19 season, UEFA Supercup triumph, and FIFA Club World Cup triumph. The Reds are the best team in England and this cannot be argued. Jurgen Klopp has transformed Liverpool and has returned them to their former glory days....

A good number of folks had their money on Riyad Mahrez or Phil Foden as Manchester City thumped Burnley 5 nil at the Etihad on Monday. However, this was not the case. It came from their neighbors Manchester United at Old Trafford and by Anthony Martial on Wednesday night in the Red Devils' 3 nil win against Sheffield United as they mounted more pressure on those above them in the race for the top 4 places. It can be recalled that no Man United player had scored a hat-trick for the club in the Premier League since the retirement of Alex Ferguson. That's a major reason why no one saw it coming. It was Man United's first hat-trick in the Pre...
