Fulham have improved and Lampard should be worried

Chelsea have been struggling recently in the Premier League and it seems Arsenal passed the poor form disease to the Blues after beating them at the Emirates in the league some weeks back.

The Blues have seen themselves drop down the table and something has to be done immediately before the struggles get out of hand.

It’s no more news that they beat Morecambe 4 nil in the FA Cup but this result can’t be used to judge if the Blues have weathered the storm or not.

Regardless, Frank Lampard and his men should know that they’ll have a game in their hands when they travel to face newly-promoted neighbors Fulham at Craven Cottage.

If the recent improvement by Scott Parker’s men is anything to go by, then Chelsea fans shouldn’t rejoice just yet.

Fulham have been hard to beat in recent weeks and the 5 draws in their last 5 Premier League games are proof of this. Regardless, it won’t come as a surprise if their recent run of Ds is followed by a W after they face Chelsea.

They drew 1 all away to Spurs in surprise fashion on Wednesday night in the Premier League and were impressive in the process even after conceding first against Jose Mourinho’s side on the night. We know how the Portuguese’s side tends to play when they go ahead in a game.

Fulham welcoming Chelsea is also a London Derby and although the H2H records have favored Chelsea in the last 5 meetings between the sides, this will be a different ball game.

The Blues have won all last 5 meetings between the two sides in the Premier League and this should provide some confidence.

However, I feel the home side will be the more assured side going into the game after getting results against the likes of Liverpool and most recently Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea are on a rough patch and this is arguably the best time to play them. Frank Lampard should know that failure to amass all three points in this one will see them slump further down the table.

Regardless, we look forward to this local derby which should be a cracker. Meanwhile, don’t mind the odds in this one, it’s a game where the minnows can easily spring a surprise.
