Top 5 Highest Paid

1. Curtis Davies

Curtis Davies signed a one-year deal with Cheltenham Town in a big announcement on June 27, 2023, which made him one of the club’s highest-paid players.

Having started his professional career back in 2003 with Luton Town. He then moved to the Premier League, playing for West Bromwich Albion in 2005.

Later, he had a brief stint with Aston Villa in 2007, which became a permanent move in 2008. Unfortunately, injury setbacks kept him out of the side in 2009.

In 2010, Davies took a loan spell with Leicester City and transferred to Birmingham City in January 2011. His career continued to evolve as he signed with Hull City in 2013, then moved to Derby County in 2017. Before arriving at Cheltenham Town, fans are eager to see how he’ll contribute to the team’s success.

2. Curtis Thompson

Born in Nottingham, Thompson started his football career at a young age with Leicester City when he was just 12. Although his time at Leicester was short, he gained some experience.

After not getting a scholarship, he joined Notts County, signing a two-year scholarship and eventually a professional contract.

Thompson’s career took him to various clubs, including loan spells at Lincoln City and Ilkeston. However, it was during his time at Wycombe Wanderers that he hit his mark.

He initially joined on loan but later signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, proving his worth, winning the Players’ Player of the Year Award for the 2018/19 season.

Curtis Thompson is now a part of Cheltenham Town In 2023. After a successful trial period, he signed a one-year deal with the team.

With his experience and the promise he’s shown throughout his career, Thompson is expected to be one of Cheltenham’s top players this season.

3. Luke Southwood

Luke Southwood is a talented goalkeeper who Cheltenham Town sees a lot of potential in him and he is one of the highest paid in the club.

Back in July 2022, Southwood arrived at Cheltenham Town on a loan deal. During that season, he managed to keep sixteen clean sheets in League One.

He played a big role in helping Cheltenham Town secure a 16th-place finish in the league. Then, in May 2023, his parent club, Reading, announced that his contract was ending, and he’d be leaving. On July 11, 2023, Southwood made a comeback to Cheltenham Town, this time on a permanent one-year deal.

4. Aidan Keena

Cheltenham signed Keena in January 2023, and reports suggest it surpassed the club’s previous record of £50,000. I wouldn’t believe Cheltenham would make such a big investment in Keena but they saw the immense potential in him and made him one of the club’s highest paid.

Before his time with Cheltenham, Keena played for several other teams, including St Patrick’s Athletic, Heart of Midlothian, Hartlepool United, Queen’s Park, Dunfermline Athletic, Falkirk, and Sligo Rovers.

Then, he made his first league appearance for Barnsley against Peterborough United. In January 2022, Cheltenham Town made a smart move, signing Ben Williams. The exact fee remains undisclosed, but it’s clear that Cheltenham appreciates his potential.
