Manchester City have confirmed that star striker Sergio Aguero has sustained injuries in a car accident. The Argentine forward will be assessed further by the club’s medical staff after the crash which occurred in Netherlands on Thursday night
Aguero was reportedly travelling in a taxi in Amsterdam after attending a concert when the crash occurred.
The club’s statement read: “The City forward was in Holland for a day off and has sustained injuries. He will return to Manchester this morning and his status will be checked ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash at Chelsea”
Aguero has been in fine form since the commencement of the season and has already scored seven goals in eight appearances, contributing to City’s position at the top of the Premier League table.
His possible absence in the game at Stamford Bridge could be a huge blow as he has built a deadly partnership with Gabriel Jesus this season as both have been scoring goals for fun. Benjamin Mandy will also be missing the game as he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and will be out for months.
