Reports from Portuguese newspaper A Bola indicate that Real Madrid star man Cristiano Ronaldo is planning to quit Spanish giants Real Madrid this summer. The report claimed that the 32-year-old Portuguese international is outraged by the treatment being meted out to him in Spain and is now planning to end his stay in the country.
According to the report, Cristiano Ronaldo has already informed Real Madrid President Florentino Perez about his decision to leave Spain after being accused of involvement in tax evasion activities.
Ronaldo Is facing tax evasion charges after supposedly defrauding the Spanish tax office of €14.7 million in payments that were made on his image rights. However, the Real Madrid man has denied any involvements in such activities. Real Madrid is yet to comment on the report and Perez is reportedly determined to ensure that Ronaldo remains with the club.
These reports are emerging in a week where the club openly threw their full weight behind their star man, supporting his innocence claims on the allegations of tax fraud, whilst expressing their confidence that he would pull through unscathed as he would definitely prove his innocence.
Ronaldo who has won the Ballon d’Or on 4 occasions has hit the back of the net a whopping 406 times in 394 appearances on the pitch since his arrival to the Bernabeu from Manchester United in 2009. The Portuguese forward has broken and set significant records in his stay at the Bernabeu whilst winning major trophies with 3 UEFA Champions League trophies, 2 La Liga titles and 2 club world cups inclusive.
Only a few clubs will be able to meet his transfer fee demand if he is to leave the club, as he is likely going to command a record transfer fee because his contract with Real Madrid holds till 2021. We wait to see how things pan out in the alleged tax evasion case and his supposed insistence on leaving Spain.
