Ahead of the Euro 2020 final between Italy and England at Wembley on July 11, the Italians will have 1,000 fans exempt from Covid travel rules so that they can be available to cheer the team during the game.
The current UK Covid guidelines state that people traveling from Italy will be required to isolate for 10 days on arrival. Therefore, the Italian Football Federation have disclosed that the British authorities have agreed with UEFA to the exemption but under strict rules.
The Italian supporters will only be allowed to spend 12 hours in the UK, they’ll also have to use chartered flights and will be conveyed to and from the airport in dedicated transport.
During the game in Wembley, they will be allotted a specific section where they will sit and this would cost each fan €610 according to the FIGC.
They must also be tested negative for coronavirus before they travel, take another test on their return to Italy, and will be required to be quarantined for 5 days after returning to Italy.
It can be recalled that Roberto Mancini’s men booked a place in the final against England at Wembley after beating Spain 4:2 on penalties in the semifinals of the tournament.
They will be expected to come out tops against the English side the hard way at Wembley where Gareth Southgate and his men will be feeling at home and hoping to make the Euros come home for the first time in their history.
