Former Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is interested in a return to the Premier League at some point in his career, his agent Kia Joorabchian has claimed.
The Brazil international opted for an exit from the Premier League after he moved to Barcelona from Liverpool in a deal worth £142million in January 2018, and signed a deal with the Catalan club until 2023.
However, the player appears not to have lived to the standard being set for him at Camp Nou and was sent on a season-long loan to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga last summer.
Although he has played a part in their successes this season, the Bundesliga giants have reportedly decided against signing him permanently.
Coutinho has been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur amongst others. This has prompted his agent to admit that he’s interested in a return to the Premier League.
“We’re still waiting until the season finishes before we start talking about anything in terms of transfers,” he told talkSPORT. “I’ve always said that he loves to play in the Premier League.
“He enjoyed his time very much and if the opportunity arises to come back to the Premier League, whether it be this year or in the future, he’s definitely looking at that.”
Philippe Coutinho’s career appears to have taken a turn for the worse since he left Liverpool. He’s now surplus to requirements at Barcelona and they’ll be looking for means to get him off their age books.
With Bayern Munich reportedly deciding against making the loan deal permanent, it remains to be seen where he’ll end up after the loan spell. The two clubs in the Premier League that have been heavily linked with making a move for him are Chelsea and Arsenal.
Newcastle could provide solace for him but it will only be possible if the Saudi takeover materializes. Ultimately, the Brazilian should have remained at Anfield.
