Arsenal and Spurs to battle for Getafe’s Cucurella
According to Spanish publication La Razon, North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle for the signature of Getafe’s Marc Cucurella when the summer transfer window reopens.
The left-winger has been impressive for the La Liga outfit this season and Getafe will pay £5.5 million to sign him from Barcelona at the end of the season. It is believed that they will cash in on him immediately as the London clubs are reportedly eyeing his £22.8 million release clause.
Getafe are flying in the La Liga this term and currently sit fifth in La Liga amid the break due to the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old has played 34 matches for Getafe in all competitions and has 5 assists to his name.
Cucurella can also deputize as a left-back due to his versatility and this makes him useful to Arsenal and Tottenham. However, they are expected to face competition for Cucurella from the likes of Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Leverkusen, Napoli, Ajax and Borussia Monchengladbach who are also reportedly eyeing a move for the player.
Cucurella appears to be an exciting player with lots of potentials and a move to a top club would be ideal for him to showcase his worth. Arsenal are short of options in wide positions and his addition will be ideal but Spurs seem to have those areas covered already with the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Son Heung-min.
Cucurella is a pacy and direct winger who likes to take on defenders thus making him an excellent signing for the club that would eventually land him. It can be recalled that he never represented Barcelona at the senior level and spent some time on loan at Eibar.
