Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has claimed that the 2 nil defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League in Turin on Wednesday will teach them a lot.
It was an exciting game that saw the Catalans run away with all three points and strangely three of Alvaro Morata’s goals ruled out for offside with the aid of VAR.
This fixture was one that caught the eye after the draws were made as it provided an opportunity for Lionel Messi to play against Cristiano Ronaldo yet again at one of the highest stages in club football.
The rivalry would have been rekindled if not for the Portuguese’s contraction of coronavirus which ruled him out of the tie in Turin. Hopefully, both players will be available when Barcelona welcome Juventus to Camp Nou.
“The defeat certainly hurts,” Bonucci said via social media.
“But it is through defeats that you grow in life. These are the matches that teach us a lot.
“It teaches us to believe more, to work more, to fight more”.
The opener for Barcelona on the night was scored by Ousmane Dembele with a deflected shot from outside the penalty box before Lionel Messi scored from the penalty spot in the closing stages of the game.
The Serie A giants were faced with lots of misfortunes on the night such as Morata’s three offside goals, a sending off for Merih Demirel after receiving a second yellow, a penalty against them, and the deflected opener for the visitors.
They currently sit second in the group with 3 points and are close favorites to make it out of the group behind Barcelona who currently lead the log with 6 points.
