Drinkwater returns to Chelsea, could join Villa on loan

Danny Drinkwater will return to training with Chelsea on Tuesday after his loan spell with Burnley was cut short according to Sky Sports News and there are reports that he is undergoing a medical ahead of a loan move to Aston Villa.

It is believed that Drinkwater is not in Frank Lampard’s plan presently and both the player and the club are ready to arrange another loan move to another Premier Club before the January transfer window closes.

Initial reports from Sky Sports have suggested interest in the player from Aston Villa but major injuries to striker Wesley and goalkeeper Tom Heaton forced them to reconsider their options. However, the move appears to be back on track.

Danny Drinkwater, 29, endured a tough loan spell at the club being managed by Sean Dyche as he played less than an hour after joining in the summer with an ankle injury ruling him out of action for several weeks in September after being attacked by ba gang of men outside a nightclub in Manchester.

The English midfielder was a key member of the Leicester team that won the Premier League in the 2015/16 season before a £35m move to Stamford Bridge in September 2017.
