Insigne makes peace with Ancelotti but contract renewal talks still on hold

There are still doubts over the future of Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne after some turbulent times recently. It can be recalled that the winger was publicly criticized by club president Aurelio De Laurentiis and was also dropped from the team by Carlo Ancelotti after failing to live up to expectation in training.

Regardless, the 28-year-old Italy international came on as a substitute to score a winner for Napoli in the UEFA Champions League game against RB Salzburg on Wednesday. He later disclosed that he had apologized to the manager for his unacceptable behavior in training.

He has made peace with Carlo Ancelotti based on reports but the recent events appear to have hampered his contract renewal talks with the club.

According to a report, Insigne’s agent Mino Raiola has met with Aurelio De Laurentiis and Napoli Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli for discussions over a possible extension. However, negotiations appear to be stalling.
