According to reports in France, Kylian Mbappe has asked to leave PSG after losing faith with the project at the Parc des Princes.
The 22-year-old French forward scored 42 goals in 47 games for the Parisian giants last season but couldn’t help his side from losing Ligue 1 to LOSC Lille and were knocked out of the UEAF Champions League by Manchester City in the semis.
According to RMC Sport journalist Daniel Riolo, the France international wants to leave as he enters the final year of his current contract at the club.
It is believed that it won’t be easy for him to find a club that would match his wage demands but the report states that Mbappe has lost faith in the project of sporting director Leonardo and won’t mind leaving for free next summer if he doesn’t leave sooner.
It remains to be seen how this will pan out as it is not the first time we’ve heard similar news concerning the future of the Frenchman in Paris. Regardless, if he desires to leave immediately, this would be of major interest to Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are major admirers of the forward and it remains to be seen if the news would have any relationship with PSG’s latest interest in Los Blancos defender Raphael Varane.
Varane is also entering into the final year of his contract at Real Madrid and it has been reported that the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have enquired about his availability.
However, despite Mbappe’s desire to leave, Riolo also stated that the owners of the Ligue 1 outfit are not interested in listening to any talks about his sale or exit.
Meanwhile, Mbappe will focus more of his attention on the Euros as France face Portugal in their last group stage game for a place in the knockout stages of the competition.
