Liverpool have rejected a loan offer from Serie A giants AS Roma for winger Xherdan Shaqiri based on a report from Sky Sports cited by Calciomercato.com.
Roma are in the market to sign players who can bolster their attack line for the rest of the campaign and have also been heavily linked with Inter Milan’s Matteo Politano.
According to a recent report, the Roma hierarchy had identified Shaqiri as a possible alternative to Politano. However, their approach for the Switzerland international has been turned down by the Reds.
Shaqiri joined Liverpool in the summer of 2018 from a relegated Stoke City for a reported transfer fee of €14.7 million. Since then, the former Bayern Munich attacker has played 40 games for the Reds in all competitions, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists.
