Reports suggest that Manchester United are preparing to offer a new mouth-watering contract to highly-rated goalkeeper Dean Henderson after his impressive loan spell at Sheffield United for the 2019/20 Premier League season.
The shots-topper has been recently linked with a move to Chelsea as Frank Lampard eyes a suitable replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga. Henderson established himself as one of the best goalies in the Premier League last season with his performances for the newly promoted Sheffield United at the time.
His future at Old Trafford has been questioned with Spain international David de Gea being Man United’s undisputed number one. This means that Henderson may be forced to rejoin Sheffield for the upcoming season.
However, Chris Wilder and his men are on the lookout for a goalkeeper and reports suggest that Aaron Ramsdale is set to join from Bournemouth after they were relegated from the Premier League.
Therefore, the player’s involvement level next season is in doubt and United are looking to convince the 23-year-old to stay with a new deal.
A report by The Sun has claimed that Henderson is close to signing a new deal at Old Trafford worth £100,000-a-week and this is coming just one year after he signed an extension worth £60,000-a-week.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to consider Henderson as the future number one at Old Trafford. However, it remains to be seen if the new deal is a pointer that he will challenge Da Gea during the 2020/21 season.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in Henderson although the Blues are yet to make an offer for the 23-year-old. They are also looking at the likes of Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak and Ajax’s Andre Onana.
