Mason Mount has hailed team-mate Hakim Ziyech and described him as world-class after his spectacular performances last week.
The 27-year-old joined Chelsea from Ajax for a fee of £37 million but had to wait to fully recover from a knee injury before making his debut for the Blues.
On his return to action, he has scored 2 goals and provided 1 assist. His back to back performances in recent games in the UCL and Premier League has made Mount lavish praises on him.
‘We know what he can do on the ball and what he brings to the team,’ he said. ‘He’s a world-class player, obviously coming in and scoring the other night [against Krasnodar] and scoring on his Premier League debut.
He’s a brilliant player. He’s a joy to play with, very clever on the ball, he brings a lot to the team. He’s a very good player.’
It can be recalled that Ziyech scored from a superb solo effort on his first start for the club in the UEFA Champions League away to Krasnodar, and scored again away to Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
Chelsea now sit fourth on the log and boss Frank Lampard has admitted that Ziyech’s return to full fitness is a big boost for the team.
He said: ‘He brings a different property to us, with an eye for a pass, his receiving, crossing and assist-making.
‘His work-rate off the ball is very, very good as well. He has brought those qualities and comes with real confidence. He has given us a big boost.’
Chelsea have been tipped as one of the title contenders for the 2020/21 Premier League season after heavy spending this summer, and all the new signings played a part against Burnley at Turf Moor.
This was possible as the likes of Edouard Mendy, Kai Havertz, Werner, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, and Ziyech started the game.
