Mbappe coy about his future with PSG after cup triumph

Kylian Mbappe refused to talk about his future with Paris Saint-Germain after they triumphed over Monaco in the Coupe de France final with a 2 nil win.

The 22-year-old forward was the star of the show as he scored a goal and provided an assist as they sealed another title under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

It can be recalled that Neymar recently put pen to paper at Parc des Princes reportedly worth £26million per year, and PSG will now be looking to strike a new deal with Mbappe.

The Frenchman will be out of contract with the club in June 2022 and it is known that he won’t be short of suitors with Real Madrid notably one of his major admirers.

Regardless, when asked if he would follow in Neymar’s footsteps by committing his future to the Ligue 1 giants, he chose to celebrate his latest trophy instead of making any bold statement about his future.

‘You have to enjoy the title, that’s the most important thing,’ he told France 2 when asked about next season.
‘Look at all the people who are happy! This is the most important thing and I am the first happy guy.

‘We work every day to have this type of emotion, reward, and recognition. It’s the work of a whole group, a whole staff who work every day for us, for the club and of course the supporters who could not be there. We think about them a lot and this title is for them.

‘When you play for Paris Saint-Germain, one of the best clubs in the world, the biggest club in the country, every title counts to go down in history. Plus it’s a young club, we want to be part of this history and it’s a great stage today.’

Meanwhile, nobody at the club wants to see Mbappe leave as he continues on his ascendancy to a perennial Ballon d’Or candidate.

The forward has been impressive yet again this term with 41 goals and 11 assists in 46 matches thus far.

He will be looking forward to winning the Ligue 1 title as one point separates PSG from Lille. However, they’ll need Lille to slip on the final day if they are to win the title and this would be very dramatic
