Police hunt 8 men after Villa fans attacked stewards and police due to disallowed goal
Eight men are being hunted after Aston Villa fans launched an attack on stewards and police after a goal was canceled. According to the Metropolitan Police, the disorder broke out during the game between Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa at Selhurst Park on August 31, 2019.
A last-gasp equalizer for Villa was disallowed in the game and the fracas ensued. Scotland Yard revealed on Saturday that a number of people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
They released images of eight men and added that officers were urging the public to help in the identification of the pictures. Detective Matt Simpson said:
“People go to football matches for a good time, not to witness or experience violence.
“It is unacceptable that this happened and with the public’s help we can find those who were prepared to behave in this way.”
Witnesses should call police on 020 824 69386 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
