Paris Saint-Germain are set to make France international Kylian Mbappe the highest-paid player at the club to ward off interest from Real Madrid according to reports from the Mirror.
The Ligue 1 outfit are preparing to offer Mbappe a bumper new contract worth £41m-a-year which will see his weekly earnings rise from £375,000 to £750,000. It is a move that will also make him better paid than Neymar who is currently the biggest earner at the Parc des Princes with around £600,000-a-week.
Kylian Mbappe will be earning close to what the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo currently make at Barcelona and Juventus respectively.
PSG will sanction the deal as Real Madrid are plotting a move for Mbappe in the summer. Madrid president Florentino Perez was making plans to swoop for the 21-year-old in the summer of 2021 when he’ll have just 12 months left on his contract. It was the same move they made wit Chelsea’s Eden Hazard before he was snapped up to the Bernabeu.
However, PSG will thwart Florentino’s plans by tying down Mbape to the mammoth contract. Speculations of his departure from PSG have heightened recently and more so after a show of annoyance when subbed off by Thomas Tuchel in the 5 nil win against Montpellier.
Regardless, PSG’s sporting director Thomas Tuchel has insisted that there is no issue between Tuchel and Mbappe.
