Reports in Spain suggest that Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal in the summer. The La Liga giants are in the market for a new striker to partner Karim Benzema and want to take advantage of the Gabon international’s uncertain future at the Emirates.
Aubameyang’s contract with Arsenal runs out next year and there are big questions concerning his future as there has been no news concerning the renewal of his contract.
He has even been advised to leave Arsenal for a more ambitious club by his country’s president to stand a chance of winning major silverware that his talent deserves. Barcelona have also been linked with the Arsenal man who has scored 49 Premier League goals since joining from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.
However, Barca consider him as an alternative as their major target is Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez. Regardless, the report by Spanish outlet Sport suggests that Real Madrid are now prepared to battle for Aubameyang.
According to the report, Real have made enquiries over signing the Arsenal forward in recent weeks and believe they can land him for around €50million (£43m), as he has just one year left on his contract.
Meanwhile, reports in Spain have further claimed that Aubameyang is not willing to put pen to paper on a new contract at Arsenal despite vowing that he was committed to the club earlier this season after being handed the captain’s armband.
