Real Madrid are set to let go of Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez as both stars have failed to live up to the billing this season. The duo are reportedly free to seek moves elsewhere and may have played their last game for Los Blancos due to the coronavirus lockdown.
According to Marca, Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane wants to offload the two players and will not hinder their moves away from the club. The report also noted that the duo may leave the club through the backdoor if the La Liga doesn’t resume due to the ongoing worldwide health emergency.
Both players have not been impressive as expected in recent times although they’ve not been allowed to leave the Bernabeu in the past. Gareth Bale last featured for Real Madrid in the 2 all draw with Celta Vigo. His performance in the game was average at best.
Bale has scored just 3 goals and provided 2 assists this season and his struggles have seen Zidane lose faith in him, although there have been rumors of tensions between them.
Meanwhile, James Rodriguez, who made a promising start to the campaign has been unable to shake off injuries that have kept him out of action when Real needed him most. He played no part in key games against Barcelona and Manchester City and has been deployed as a plan B by Zidane.
Bale’s contract is set run till 2022 and may attract a significant transfer fee. James, on the other hand, has just one year left on his contract and could be available for a portion of his £63million fee that Real Madrid splashed on him.
