Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on a move for Erling Haaland in 2022 and have reached a pact with Borussia Dortmund to carry out a transfer in 18 months’ time.
Karim Benzema is not getting any younger and the La Liga giants are convinced that they need the services of a new No. 9, with Haaland at the top of their wish list.
According to AS, Real want to sign the Norwegian in 2022. It is also believed that Martin Odegaard will be recruited to help seal the move and convince the Dortmund star to choose Real Madrid.
The La Liga giants believe that Haaland is the successor to Robert Lewandowski with regards to goalscoring on the European stage. However, they’ll face competition from Premier League outfit Manchester United.
Real Madrid are keen to sign other youngsters as they move towards a new era and also bring a youth revolution to the Bernabeu.
The year 2021 could see them eventually make concrete moves for the likes of PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga as Zidane will be looking to splash the cash in his quest to acquire some generational talents to help Los Blancos return to glory on the European stage.
Meanwhile, Haaland already has 16 goals in 15 games for both club and country this season and has failed to find the back of the net in just three games for Borussia Dortmund this term.
He scored a brace for the Bundesliga outfit in the UEFA Champions League this week and is on a four-game scoring streak ahead of the weekend’s games.
Meanwhile, Mbappe and Camavinga have been in impressive form for PSG and Rennes respectively in Ligue 1 with a host of suitors chasing after them. The duo have also attracted major interest from some of the elite European clubs.
