Chelsea fullback Emerson Palmieri wants to quit the club this summer due to Frank Lampard’s management style according to reports in Italy. The 25-year-old left-back has made 18 appearances for the Blues this season but played no part in the last 5 Premier League games before the suspension of the season.
In that time, he made the bench just once as Lampard preferred Marcos Alonso on the left side. The Italy international’s contract runs till 2022 but he has been frustrated with his situation and Tuttosport have claimed that Emerson sees Lampard as a sergeant and is not happy with the Englishman’s level of control over his players.
Meanwhile, Italy boss Roberto Mancini recently asked Emerson to leave Chelsea if he wanted to give himself the best chance of playing in the Euros. Mancini said:
“Luca Pellegrini already spent time with the senior squad and can improve. It would be nice if Emerson Palmieri, who hasn’t played much for Chelsea, could come and play in Italy”
Emerson has been linked with a possible return to Serie A where he spent time with Palermo and Roma before joining Chelsea in January 2018. His agent Luis Fernando Garcia recently told Juvenews:
“We know very well about Juventus’ interest but also about Inter. So far there has been no talk of a transfer with Chelsea, nor has there been any official offer.
“I believe that until May there will be no official offers from the two clubs. In the summer we will decide what to do.”
