Chelsea youngster Tino Livramento is close to completing a move to Southampton for £5m. The right-back who is highly rated at Stamford Bridge was expected to join Brighton and Hove Albion but the Saints have overtaken them on the queue and are set to sign the 18-year-old on a five-year deal.
Livremento, who has proven his versatility as a fullback or wingback on both flanks is in the last year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and could become the next academy player to call it quits at Chelsea.
He also attracted interest from the likes of AC Milan, RB Leipzig, and Aston Villa. He failed to come to an agreement on the terms of a new deal at Stamford Bridge and needs to leave to continue his development.
His decision to leave is justified as he won’t have a smooth progression to the first teams with the likes of Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi ahead of him while Cesar Azpilicueta remains a key player under Thomas Tuchel.
It can be recalled that Chelsea also attempted to sign another right-sided player in Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan but the player opted to join Paris Saint-Germain. They’ve also been recently linked with Wolves’ Adama Traore.
Meanwhile, the Blues are struggling to keep hold of some of their highly-rated young players this summer as the players are keen for first-team action elsewhere if it is not available at Stamford Bridge.
They’ve already sold Marc Guehi to Crystal Palace, Myles Peart-Harris to Brentford, and Lewis Bates to Leeds United while Southampton have also captured the signature of Dynel Simeu on a free transfer.
