Toni Kroos opens door to contract extension with Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has given a hint that he will extend his contract beyond next season. The German has now been with the La Liga giants for 8 seasons and his spell at the Bernabeu has been very successful.

In the period, Kroos has won 2 La Liga titles, 3 UEFA Champions Leagues, and more at the club and will be looking to add more laurels this season.

Meanwhile, the player continues to be very impressive although he is in the closing stages of his career. At 32, the midfielder is still impressing under new boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The player entered into a new lease of life after retiring from international football. He has been very energetic and has been playing a vital role in midfield for Los Blancos. He has been a key man for the Madrid side in their time at the top of La Liga this season thus far.

He has a contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2023 after signing his last deal in 2019. Regardless, he has revealed that he could extend his contract beyond next season and is keen to retire at the club.

“The length of the contract was chosen in a conscious way,” he said, as cited by Mundo Deportivo.

“When it ends, I will be 33 years of age and I will have to reflect on what comes next.

“I don’t need to enter any ambiguous games, I put the letters on the table.

“It’s my eighth season with Madrid and I have an incredible relationship with the club and I would never endanger that. I think that is something mutual.

“I have said with clarity that I want to end my career here and that could happen.”
