United continue to falter in the Premier League’s title credential tests

The Toffees turned themselves to a Trojan horse at Old Trafford on Saturday and the home side were unable to instill their dominance. It was an absolute end-to-end game but Manchester United fans are not pleased with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the 1-1 draw against Everton.

Manchester United gaffer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has been making it hard for himself and his scrutinizers are not backing down. Before the commencement of the game, he opted to bench United midweek hero Cristiano Ronaldo for the Everton clash at Old Trafford.

This decision has been arousing reaction from fans who had expected United to win the tie. The Portuguese Talisman is capable of making it count when it matters.

The match didn’t look great for United at Old Trafford on the day. The tempo and intensity of the game from United weren’t top-notch even though they did accrue a few chances. However, the Toffees were a constant threat on the counter.

They didn’t play as if they were second best on paper. However, before the end of half-time, United were able to break through and the deadlock was broken courtesy of a fine volley from Anthony Martial.

The encounter towed a similar pattern during the second half of the game with the Toffees making threats and their penetration in dangerous areas kept piling and one of such counter-attacks birthed an equalizer from Andros Townsend who beat David de Gea with ease to make it 1-1.

The Red Devils toiled and pushed for a winning goal, their hunger to nick a win was not forthcoming. The decision undoubtedly brought relief to Solskjaer.

It can be recalled that Man United fans chuckled during the midweek UEFA champions league match against Villarreal. Solskjaer’s men defeated the Yellow Submarines 2-1, as Ronaldo’s late winner brought succor.

The followers of united weren’t pleased with what they witnessed from the team’s lack of winning spirit. Expectedly, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had to bear the consequences of the criticism for a clear lack of recognizable blueprints and cohesion within the side.

Manchester United are currently 4th on the log of the EPL. Regardless, If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his boys are truly considering their credentials worthy of EPL contention this season, they cannot afford any more slips. They need to be hungrier to garner points when it matters.
