David Silva tests positive for coronavirus

David Silva has tested positive for coronavirus. It can be recalled that the Spaniard left Manchester City at the end of last season and joined La Liga outfit Real Sociedad. The club have revealed that he is asymptomatic.

The La Liga outfit tweeted: “Real Sociedad informs that David Silva has tested positive for COVID-19 in the test carried out at Policlínica Gipuzkoa. The player is asymptomatic and is self-isolating.”

Silva enjoyed a brilliant career at the Etihad in which he helped the Citizens to win 4 Premier League titles before he ended his playing time at the club after elimination from the UEFA Champions League by Lyon.

According to the club, a statue will be erected outside the ground in honor of the player to acknowledge his role in establishing Manchester City as one of the leading clubs in Europe and the world at large.

This recent development won’t be good for the player and the club as it will affect his preparations for the upcoming La Liga season. Meanwhile, Sociedad finished 6th last season although they won just two out of their last 11 games after the restart.

The mercurial midfielder will surely be instrumental for them and play a part in their fight for a place in the UEFA Champions League in 2021. We wait to see how the tail end of David Silva’s career unfolds.
